Carbon is a resource added in Space Age. It is an intermediate product that takes a variety of roles across different surfaces.
In space, carbon is created by crushers by processing carbonic asteroid chunks, and is used in both of thruster fuel's recipes.
On Vulcanus, it is mainly crafted from coal and sulfuric acid, but can also be found when destroying ashland trees. It is an ingredient in tungsten carbide.
On Gleba, it is made from spoilage in biochambers. It is an ingredient in carbon fiber.
Carbon is also useful in coal synthesis. On Gleba and in space, this is the only local source of coal.
