The Railgun turret is a powerful late-game turret, unlocked with cryogenic science packs.

The railgun turret has a limited firing arc of less than 90°. To compensate for this, it can be placed in one of 8 directions.

The turret does massive damage to all entities and structures in its line of fire. As such, one should place the turret such that its firing arc does not include any buildings that you want to survive (including walls).

Railgun turrets are mainly used against huge asteroids, as the damage of railgun ammo easily beats their flat physical resistance. It is also quite useful against Demolishers, especially when fired directly down their bodies, as shells can hit multiple segments at once.
