In the Space Age expension you can also gain iron ore on space platforms due gathering metallic asteroid chunks with asteroid collectors and process them in crushers. On Gleba iron ore can be obtained by allowing iron bacteria to spoil. On Vulcanus, iron ore can be found in rocks on the planet's surface.
