Each separate input connection to a fluid system (one set of connected pipes and tanks) is limited to moving 6000 fluid per second.  While this is the theoretical maximum, in practice this limit is usually around 4200 per second. If only one of the steam connections of the production building is used, then giving that building an effective crafting speed of 2.1 or greater will cause the building to be unable to produce steam at the recipe's stated output. Using two fluid outputs allows the machine to reach crafting speed 4.2 before encountering this limitation; this is the fastest the [[chemical plant]] can output steam with this recipe. Using all three fluid outputs of the [[cryogenic plant]] allows an effective crafting speed of around 6.3.
