Thresholds

The table below shows for each level of the laser weapons damage research how many (normal quality) laser turret activations are required to destroy a small (S) or medium (M) asteroid on a space platform. Medium asteroids have 90% laser resistance and cannot be destroyed in a single activation at any research level; at research level 12, 20 or more laser turrets provide sufficient combined fire rate to clear medium asteroids at normal platform travel speeds. Big and huge asteroids (95–99% laser resistance) are not practical laser turret targets and are excluded. The table is shown up to level 20; medium asteroids continue to require multiple activations beyond this point.
