Medium asteroids have 90% laser resistance and cannot be destroyed in a single activation at any research level; at research level 12, 20 or more laser turrets provide sufficient combined fire rate to clear medium asteroids at normal platform travel speeds. Big and huge asteroids (95–99% laser resistance) are not practical laser turret targets and are excluded.
