The Basic exoskeleton equipment enhances the movement speed (by 30%) of your character when inserted in a Modular armor. It consumes an undocumented amount of power when used (when running) and will not work if the power isn't provided. It occupies a 2x4 (tall rectangle) in the modular armor.
