Stack limitation
All chests have a stack limitation. In most cases it is used to limit the number of items, that can be inserted. This is useful, if you want to store some number of items, but not a full chest, and it can replace the combination of a smart Inserter with circuit network or logistic network.
Other entities with stacks
stacks are needed to store items. Entities with stacks are
- Burner inserter, Burner mining drill,
- Furnaces,
- Assemblies or even the
- Car or Diesel locomotive/Cargo wagon but also
- Gun turrets
- Robots and Inserters (but only very small)
- your Inventory (plus the quick bar, the weapon bar and what you have in hand).
