Furnaces are used to smelt resources into usable products for further usage. Therefore furnaces are a key building for developement and automation. Starting with very basic stone furnaces the player can advance through research and replace them with more efficient and faster furnaces later in the game.
Furnaces
Stone furnace
Stone furnaces are a very basic smelting building providing a cheap and reliable source of basic products like iron plates or copper plates.

Steel furnace
Steel furnaces provide more advanced smelting capabilities resulting in higher smelting speed and therefore are more efficient use of the given fuel.

Electrical furnace
Electrical furnaces provide 2 module slots which make them more flexible for special purposes. The use of electrical power makes them independent from a direct power source, but the huge heating devices take some extra space, which makes the electrical furnace slightly bigger than the burner furnaces.

Furnace | Total raw | Speed | Max energy | Module slots | Size |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Stone furnace | 0.5 | 180 W | 0 | 2 x 2 | |
Steel furnace | 1 | 180 W | 0 | 2 x 2 | |
Electrical furnace | 1 | 180 W | 2 | 3 x 3 |
Examples
An advanced smelter in late gameplay. Furnaces energy consumption reduced to minimum of 20% with 2 Efficiency modules consuming only 36 W each.
