Raw Wood is a basic [[Items#Resources|resource]] that can be collected by hand. There is no way to automate the collection of wood, however it is discussed [http://www.factorioforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=128 here]. Raw Wood has to be crafted to Wood to be used in reciepes, but can be used as fuel in all burner devices (incl. car, diesel locomotive), however the efficiency of coal is much better.
