Trains are one of the main methods of item/player transport in Factorio, able to carry large amounts of items at once at very high speeds. While expensive to set up, rails will never degrade, and the only maintenance necessary will be fuelling the locomotives.

Trains are directly connected to the following achievement:
; Trans factorio express
: Have a train plan a path 1000 tiles long.

Usage
To build a train, place a locomotive and one or more wagons adjacent to each other on the track. A symbol will appear when they'll be connected on place. (see examples below)
The locomotive can be rotate, and when in automated mode will only travel in the direction it is facing (the pointed end with the "scoop"). For a train to be able to travel both forwards and backwards, locomotives must be connected which face in opposite directions.
More than one engine can be connected to a train. The more locomotive which pull in a single direction, the faster the top speed and rate of acceleration (upto a limit based on the locomotive).
