The offshore pump is the only source of water. It is commonly used to provide steam to steam engines for power generation. The offshore pump itself requires no power to operate. (This is because, otherwise the game might fall into a serious deadlock: No coal, no electricity, no water...)
The Offshore Pump produces Water from a lake or ocean. It must be placed on a shoreline of a body of water on the map, and connected to a pipe or other object that accepts liquids (it does not require electricity or fuel). It produces 60 units of water per second.

Each offshore pump will produce a flow of 60 units of water per second, this is equal to the consumption of 10 steam engines per second. Thus if you wish to supply water to more than 10 steam engines at full output, you will need to use 2 or more offshore pumps per pipe.
Offshore Pumps are frequently used to provide water for Steam engines, though several crafting recipes also require water. One offshore pump can generate enough water for 10 steam engines (see the optimal ratios for power production).

This is explained more in optimal ratios.
The water supply from an offshore pump is endless; it will not dry up the body of water it is attached to (to do that, use Landfills). Additionally, the size of the body of water the pump is connected to does not affect the rate of water generation.

Offshore pump/infobox The Offshore Pump produces Water from a lake or ocean. It must be placed on a shoreline of a body of water on the map, and connected to a pipe or other object that accepts liquids (it does not require electricity or fuel). It produces 60 units of water per second.

Offshore Pumps are frequently used to provide water for Steam engines, though several crafting recipes also require water. One offshore pump can generate enough water for 10 steam engines (see the optimal ratios for power production).

The water supply from an offshore pump is endless; it will not dry up the body of water it is attached to (to do that, use Landfills). Additionally, the size of the body of water the pump is connected to does not affect the rate of water generation.
