Copper wire is used used nearly solely for [[Electronic circuit]]s and [[Advanced circuit]]s. Note, that one [[Copper plate]] is needed to craft two wires. This expansion is a problem, cause belts are normally not able to handle that load. This is a typical beginner mistake, but it is not a total fail, cause there are successful designs, which handle this with belts.
