The &#039;&#039;&#039;heat pipe&#039;&#039;&#039; can transport heat over longer distances and connect devices which produce and use heat. Currently, this is limited to [[heat exchanger]]s, [[nuclear reactor]]s, and [[heating tower]]s{{SA}}.&lt;br /&gt;

Heat pipes have a heat capacity of 1 MJ/°C. Thus, they can theoretically buffer 500 MJ of heat energy across their working range of 500°C to 1000°C, making them a space-efficient energy store. However, because temperature needs a drop of greater than 1 degree before it will &amp;quot;flow,&amp;quot; you can&#039;t raise them all the way to 1000°C or drain them all the way to 500°C, so the practical energy capacity will depend on the layout.&lt;br /&gt;

As heat pipes rise in temperature, they will give off a very low-distance glow.&lt;br /&gt;

On the planet [[Aquilo]]{{SA}}, heat pipes are a necessity due to the freezing temperatures. If buildings are not adjacent to heat pipes (or similar objects) with a temperature of at least 30°C, the building will freeze and stop working.&lt;br /&gt;

Each heat pipe holds an amount of heat energy, and there is a limit to how much energy can go through each of them for a given duration.&lt;br /&gt;

For any heat pipe entity with one input connection on one side and one output connection on another, this entity will lower the temperature by &amp;lt;code&amp;gt;1 + (P / 15) °C&amp;lt;/code&amp;gt; with P being the power going through this entity expressed in MW.&lt;br /&gt;

A [[heat exchanger]] must heat up to 500°C before it can generate steam. And the maximum temperature of a heat generator (such as a nuclear reactor) is 1000°C. As such, the temperature difference between a heat source and the heat exchanger is at most 500°C. We can thus express the maximum length of a straight line of heat pipe as &amp;lt;code&amp;gt;500 / (1 + P/15)&amp;lt;/code&amp;gt;.&lt;br /&gt;

For example let&#039;s take a single nuclear reactor outputting 40MW of heat power to a single line of heat pipes. The furthest that line can go is &amp;lt;code&amp;gt;500 / (1 + 40/15)&amp;lt;/code&amp;gt; which is around 136 heat pipes long.&lt;br /&gt;

A nuclear reactor can also be used to transfer heat in a similar manner as a heat pipe, whether or not it is fueled. In this case, the reactor will drop the temperature by &amp;lt;code&amp;gt;1 + (P / 387) °C&amp;lt;/code&amp;gt;, with P again being the power in MW going through the entity. Note that this is an approximation, the actual value measured is supposed to be 200000/517 or about 386.847.&lt;br /&gt;

That being said, the nuclear reactor entity is also much bigger, meaning that we must compare it to 5 lines of 5 heat pipes instead of just a single one. The nuclear reactor will thus lower the temperature 5 times less with near-zero power going through it, and nearly 26 times less when approaching infinite power, compared to those lines of heat pipes.&lt;br /&gt;

As an example, a single line of 100 nuclear reactors (or 500 tiles) will only lower the temperature by about 360°C while carrying 1GW.&lt;br /&gt;

In [[Space Age]]{{SA}}, on [[Aquilo]], heat pipes are used to prevent entities from [[Aquilo#Freezing|freezing]]. They automatically transfer heat into neighboring entities. Different entities consume different amounts of heat to prevent freezing, but they do not have the temperature requirements of a heat exchanger. Heat pipes only need to be at least 30°C to keep an entity warm. Also, heat pipes do not lose heat to the environment; they only lose heat to entities that need to be kept warm.&lt;br /&gt;

The &#039;&#039;&#039;Tesla turret&#039;&#039;&#039; is a powerful turret dealing electric damage capable of hitting multiple enemies at once. &lt;br /&gt;
The tesla turret fires an electric bolt that can bounce to secondary enemies in an arcing chain. Hits temporarily stun enemies, slowing them down, which works well in combination with other turrets.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Unlike the handheld [[tesla gun]], the tesla turret does &#039;&#039;&#039;not&#039;&#039;&#039; require [[tesla ammo]]. It only needs [[electricity]] to operate. It consumes 1 MW continuously and 7 MW when firing. On top of that, each shot consumes 12 MJ of energy, which can cause electricity usage spikes during attacks. These can be offset by using [[accumulator]]s (or [[Storage_tank#Usage_as_.22Energy-tank.22|steam storage]] and excess [[steam turbine]]s).&lt;br /&gt;

Many larger enemies are segmented (demolishers, stompers and strafers); this means that they have different target entities that share a single pool of hit points. &#039;&#039;&#039;Space platforms&#039;&#039;&#039; are factories that can be built in outer space. Each space platform is a self-contained factory supported by a [[space platform hub]].&lt;br /&gt;

Broadly speaking, there are three purposes which space platforms might serve:&lt;br /&gt;
* To perform recipes that can only be performed in space, such as when manufacturing [[space science pack]]s.&lt;br /&gt;
* To transport players and items between planets.&lt;br /&gt;
* To collect and process [[asteroids]].&lt;br /&gt;

== Creation and deletion ==&lt;br /&gt;
Space platforms are created by loading a [[space platform starter pack]] into a rocket and pressing the button to create a new space platform. Alternatively, players may order the creation of a space platform from the remote view through the list on the top-left corner of the screen, in which case the necessary space platform starter pack is treated as a request from a not-yet-existing space platform around the specified planet. Either way, players are then allowed to name their new space platform. Note that space platforms can later be renamed from the menus of their space platform hubs.&lt;br /&gt;

Platforms can be deleted. After confirming that the platform is to be deleted, the deleted platform goes into a queue, which is located at the bottom of the platform list. Should the player regret their decision, then this gives  several minutes to decide if they want to undo the removal of the platform before it is permanently deleted.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If the platform hub is destroyed, the entire space platform and all of its contents are lost. When this happens, the [[player|character]] will respawn at the last planet they were at before going to space.&lt;br /&gt;

== Construction ==&lt;br /&gt;
Unlike planetary surfaces, space platforms can only be seen and edited by using the remote view. Therefore, players will order the construction of a space platform by placing ghosts. Instead of [[construction robot]]s being used for constructing the space  platform, the platform itself will automatically construct ghost entities and move ghost items to and from the platform hub as soon as materials are available and these actions are not obstructed. If the necessary materials are not available, they will be automatically requested from the planet at which the space platform is stationed.&lt;br /&gt;

A newly-created space platform consists of a 10x10 square of [[space platform foundation]] with a [[space platform hub]] in its center, all surrounded by empty space. Unlike most buildings, the space platform hub can not be removed, and its destruction directly results in the loss of the entire space platform.&lt;br /&gt;

As nothing can be built on empty space, the platform must first be expanded with more space platform foundation. The platform&#039;s foundation must consist of a single connected area with no detached islands, and holes of empty space surrounded by foundation are not allowed; Should these rules be broken, then the violating tiles will not be built or removed before the issue is resolved.&lt;br /&gt;

[[Asteroid collector]]s and [[thruster]]s can only be built on the edge of the platform. In particular, thrusters can only be built on the southern edge, and no foundation can be built within the rectangular area extending from the southern edge of the thruster towards infinity.&lt;br /&gt;

Electric poles can be built, but the global electric network covering the entire platform powers all devices. As such, electric poles are only useful as a way to [[circuit network|wire together]] distant entities.&lt;br /&gt;

To transport players and items between a planet&#039;s surface and a space platform, the space platform must be stationed in orbit around the planet.&lt;br /&gt;

The space platform hub will automatically request any items that are needed for construction of the platform. Automatic requests can receive items from any planet, whereas manual requests will only be fulfilled at one planet specified by the player. Items can be sent to a planet orbited by a space platform in one of two ways:&lt;br /&gt;
* Manually moving items into the platform hub&#039;s orbital drop slots.&lt;br /&gt;

The items will then be carried to the planet&#039;s surface by [[cargo pod]]s. If the planet has a cargo landing pad, then the cargo pods will go there, placing their payloads directly inside the cargo landing pad&#039;s inventory (spilling the items if the cargo landing pad is already full). Otherwise, the cargo pod will land at a random location near the planet&#039;s spawn point. Landed cargo pods will wait for players to collect their payloads, and are automatically destroyed when emptied.&lt;br /&gt;
