In the supply challenge scenario the player has to fulfill production output objectives with their factory. Finishing a level rewards the player with points. The scenario can be played in single player and multiplayer.

In every level, the player has a limited amount of time to place the required items into the specified chests. The requirements increase with each level.<br>
Finishing a level rewards the player with 10 x the level number points, plus a time bonus for finishing quickly. The player can choose whether they sell the remaining time for points or use it to prepare for the next level. If the level is finished early, 5 points are awarded for each second left on the timer. The amount of points per second goes down by 0.2 each level, so selling the time in earlier levels is worth more points.

Oil refinery splits crude oil into 3 different fluids: Heavy Oil, Light Oil and Petroleum Gas. These byproducts cannot be packed into steel barrels and must be stored in a Storage Tank or piped to a Chemical plant.

Notes
* Later on you can research a second recipe that produces less of the relatively useless heavy oil and more of 2 other fluids, in exchange for having to supply water to the refinery.
* When placing the refinery, it can be rotated, but otherwise neither input nor output tiles can be swapped in any way. (For advanced oil processing, the water input is to the right when the inputs are coming into the top.)

Troubleshooting
When the refinery is working, a flame comes out of the chimney.

* You need to choose the recipe, otherwise it won't work.
* It will stop working if any of the products isn't properly drained from it (that is, 10.0 heavy oil at output will prevent production of the 2 other fluids).
|}

Each steam engine needs roughly 1.31 boilers when running at full capacity.

One offshore pump can satisfy 14 Boilers and 10 steam engines. 13 boilers will make the job also, but this tends to have problems to raise the temp after coal shortness or other accidents (Biters love to attack the boilers).

To fully satisfy a pipe you need 3 Pumps or 5 Small pumps (or better 6, but that depends on pressure!). But with this setup you will find, that the length of your pipe-setup will influence this too much. This is definitely not a beginner strategy.
To equalize the needed throughput (different needs of energy between day and night for example), hot water from boilers can also be stored in storage tanks and used by extra steam engines during peak times or during night (if solar is in place). This energy storage technique can be used instead of or in addition to accumulators.
Mines about 7 resources per single unit of coal used to fuel it. Covers and mines in a 2x2 area. Mines 0.28/s of copper, coal or iron and .3675/s of stone. Burner miners create a lot of pollution per resource.

Circular-feeding
Two burner mining drills can refuel each other, when placed next to each other on a coal deposit as long as they're facing each other. Each drill fuels the other and coal gradually accumulates in their Storage/Stacks, so you have effectively a storage of 100 coal (2 stack, 50 coal, one in each burner miner, together 100). You can do this also for 4 or any other even number of miners, though Electric Mining Drills are far more efficient once Electricity is available.
